I’m thinking about attending the Noah’s Wish Volunteer training in Iowa City, IA on April 4th-5th. I attended their training in May of 2006 and highly recommend it. Even if you are not planning to deploy to disaster regions, this info is very useful when natural disasters affect your part of the country. It includes great info to help you plan for your own animals in the event of a disaster. Here are the links to general training info and the 2009 locations:Â

2009 training locations include Chester, Vermont; Cookstown, Ontario; Creston, BC; Harrisonburg, VA; Iowa City, IA; Lebanon, TN; Old Bethpage, NY; and, if you hurry, Glendora, CA.
I want to assure you that Noah’s Wish is going strong and has helped animals in many disasters since Katrina. They are currently monitoring situations in Missouri, Kentucky, and Washington State http://www.noahswish.info/CurrentWatchesAssessments/. Founder Terri Crisp was investigated by the California Attorney General in 2007 (I think) and subsequently left Noah’s Wish. Since her departure, Noah’s Wish has functioned with integrity. They did a great job in Louisiana after Katrina in 2005 (returning over 70% of the animals they cared for to their original families) and have many experienced and credible people now running the organization.
If I’m able to make the trip, I’ll have 8 State Kate books with me and will donate $5 per book sold at the training to Noah’s Wish.
