After we returned from sheep herding in Pine City this afternoon, I found 3 messages from the woman who had expressed an interest in adopting Cay. Although I had told her that we wouldn’t be home or at the adoption event today, but could meet with her tomorrow, she left me three messages about Cay while we were gone. Strange. When I returned her call, she told me that she had gone to the adoption event today and had adopted a different dog. I was astounded. This woman had been so sure that she wanted to adopt Cay before even meeting her. Now she didn’t seem stable enough to me to be a good leader for Cay (what I think she needs). Sometimes I think unstable people are attracted to the less stable/ more insecure dogs, and I think that these dogs need security, consistency, and leadership, not flakiness.
