Horse Sense: Wisdom Horse Coaching

On Saturday I went to a Wisdom Horse Coaching Demo. “What is ‘Wisdom Horse Coaching’?” you may ask. It’s a program in which horses mirror back energy patterns and blind spots that, once discovered, free up stuck energy and untapped potential. This unique program was founded by two women who are certified life and executive coaches and experienced horsewomen.

Horses are very aware of their environment because they are prey animals. They’re not lost in their heads like we are much of the time. They can reflect back a person’s energy and hesitation or willingness to move forward on something. Horses are non-judgmental, living in the moment, and reflect back what is projected to them without a stake in the answer. Read more…

A New Sand Dollar Story

Last weekend I attended a seminar on partnering with non-profits and corporations in the San Francisco area. I had one afternoon free and chose to go to the ocean. It was hot that afternoon and the beach was crowded. The surf was rough and the tide was rising. As I walked the beach, I saw many broken sand dollar shards. I figured that sand dollars don’t often make it to shore there intact, due to the ragged shoreline and the rough surf. Still, I thought it would be nice to find one whole sand dollar, and imagined myself holding one in my hand. Read more…

Here’s to a Humane NFL-Free Future for Michael Vick

Ok, I’m trying to think positively here. I remember hearing that Mother Theresa would not protest against anything, she chose to rally for what she wanted. Like she wouldn’t protest war, but she would rally for peace. So here’s my thinking. I’m all for Michael Vick truly repenting and throwing himself totally into humane education. I would love to see him work full time to educate against dogfighting and other forms of animal cruelty. Forget the NFL. He has more important things to do. Read more…

June 2nd is Kindness for Kate Day

In 2006, June 2nd was first declared “Kindness for Kate Day” in honor of 8 State Hurricane Kate. This year, on Tuesday, June 2nd, in honor of Kate, please do something to make the world a better place. Plant a flower. Say a prayer. Help somebody. Give hope to a homeless animal. Perform an act of kindness. Collect your spare change and donate it to a rescue group. Appreciate someone’s efforts. Volunteer. Or come up with your own idea and post it here. Stick your neck out and do something you haven’t done before. Tell us about it. Let’s make June 2nd an awesome day.

A Tired Dog is a Good Dog…So They Say!

I have a sore arse and shoulders from walking backwards and waving a stick in the air. Dontcha love a long weekend of herding? This evening I took the dogs out for a run. Afterward, Bandit was lying down, panting with his eyes closed. I said, “Wow, did I finally wear you out?” On the word “out”, he jumped up, barked, and ran to the door, followed quickly by the other two barking dogs. Guess the answer is no!!

Look for my virtual book tour, including videos and interviews, on Facebook soon!
